Do you have a boyfriend?

Have you ever been asked silly questions that even if you answer a hundred times, people won’t believe you? Well, one such question I have been trying to escape and re-escape is “Do you have a boyfriend?”
No, the question is not a problem. The problem lies with the series of questions that follow after I say, “Nope!”  It’s a simple NO. Then they beat me with this stupid question,
“Why?” Yes, they ask that. I shrug and tell them, “I just don’t have one. THE ONE!” Few go a step ahead and ask, “You had a love failure?” I just smile to that. Then they say, “Don’t worry! You will get someone special someday.” Now that makes me feel worse. I never felt bad that I don’t have a boyfriend or that Cupid’s been real cruel to me!
Sometimes, I happen to be on phone for hours or I hangout with a guy who was not introduced to my friends. They immediately come up to me and ask, “Hey got a boyfriend huh?” Why can’t he be just a friend? A guy cannot be a friend of a girl or if he is a friend, he should definitely be known to my other friends? So, if a boy talks to another boy who is not known in his circle then it should mean he is a gay, right?
These days having a boyfriend is like you’ve got all branded stuff in your wardrobe. It’s a cool factor. People ask if you have a boyfriend just like what’s your name? People say they had a break-up like they had breakfast. Honestly, I have been into and out of love too, I’ve had my fair share in love. It’s just that I don’t want to discuss about it with anybody. I have a life that I think should remain private or known only to my close friends. Is that really a problem? Well, deal with it… I am not going to answer that stupid question anymore!
