The Perfect Day...

What is it that makes a day perfect?
Travelling and exploring a new place? A date with your loved one? Enjoying the adventure sports? Or partying throughout the day n night?
It’s not in the sovereign things that we find happiness but in the little unnoticed irrelevant things that give us the real pleasure.
For an instance, have you ever looked outside the window and cherished the beautiful sky, the amalgam of various sounds like that of cars honking, vegetable vendors calling, dogs barking, birds chirping, chants in a nearby temple, construction noise at a distance? Or have you ever taken out time to close your eyes and listen to your heartbeat with no thoughts in your mind? Never! We are too busy for all this.
For me, the idea or rather I should say ‘ideas’ of a perfect day are: Sit under the warm quilt on a winter’s day with a cup of hot coffee in hand and listen to the soothing happy songs. To read a good fiction book and get indulged in the story and forget about the real world. To walk a mile with a close friend without any pre-decided destination. To Lie down with my head resting in mum’s lap and feel the warmth of her hands on my forehead.
Sometimes to feel at peace you need to go out of track of your plans and spend some time in solitude. Try switching off your cellphones for a while, write in your diary, pamper yourself, learn a new art, talk to your pet, walk on your terrace at night, stare at the moon and wonder what a magical entity it is, admire the beauty of star-filled sky, whiff the scent of the flowers, and let your thoughts flow freely.
Buy a flower instead of a cigarette, charity the money instead of wasting it on booze, visit a church/gurudwara/temple/mosque instead of a party at some club, dig deep the old albums and cherish the old memories instead of cribbing over something! Life is so full of perfect chances to make a moment perfect but in the rat race to out-do the competition, we miss out on the special unnoticeable perfect moments! Don't just let life pass by! Don't even look for the chances to make a day special. Just live every moment at it's best. Enjoy it. Cherish it. Live it. And make every passing minute count!

"The beauty of life is in living the journey and not in reaching the destination!"
