Know Your Worth!

In this post I would like to share an anecdote with you:

A well-known speaker started off his seminar by holding up a Rupee 500 note. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this Rupee 500 note?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this note to one of you but first let me do this."

He proceeded to crumple the note up. He then asked, "Who still wants it?" Still the hands were up in the air.
"Well," he replied, "What if I do this?" And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now all crumpled and dirty. "Now who still wants it?" Still the hands went up in the air.
"My friends, you have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth Rupee 500/-. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and grounded into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. You are special. Don't ever forget it!”

As we have heard: “Never let yesterday's disappointments overshadow tomorrow's dreams!”

Many times in life you do come across situations which break you down completely. You start questioning your existence, your thoughts, your perception about things/people, etc. The circumstances make you think that you are not worthy of anyone's time and love. But it's situations like this, which bring out the best in you. It's the decision you make in such situations which show your inner power. People may drop you out of their lives, people may crush you in guilt, people may push you into self-questioning, but have you ever wondered on questions like:  Who are they? What are they? What have they accomplished in their darkest hours that give them the position to judge you?
We should never lose our ground. No matter what situation we get into, we must always do what we should do and not what we could do. It might cost us a friendship, a love, a job, but always do what is the right thing to do. We should value our thoughts, be proud of our courage, our inner strength, our morales and be genuinely proud of what we are!
